Avantama set to sell its perovskie quantum dot IP portfolio

Material developer Avantama announced that it is set to sell its entire perovskite QD IP portfolio. The company says that it has managed to bring the technology to market-readyness level, and is looking for a company that will bring it to market. 

Ocean Tomo Transactions (a part of J.S. Held) will be representing Avantama in the sale of its pQD IP portfolio. The company has developed over 220 IP assets, which includes patents on processes, compositions, formulations, films, and devices for the commercialization of semiconductor nanoparticle and quantum dot inks and films.

Samsung agreed to pay $150 million to settle its QD technology trial with Nanoco

Quantum Dots developer Nanoco Technologies announced that Samsung Electronics agreed to pay $150 million USD in settlement for a patent lawsuit over a technology used in Samsung's quantum-dot LED TVs.

The two parties reached the settlement shortly before the start of the trial last month. The settlement includes a license agreement and the transfer of "certain patents" and settles all related proceedings.

The Coretec Group developed an efficient process to produce SiQDs

The Coretec Group announced that it has developed an efficient and highly scalable way to produce Silicon Quantum Dots (SiQDs).

The company says that its unique chemistry and processes enable the production of SiQDs that will be suitable for LED applications. Coretec says that SiQDs are metal-free QDs that possess all the favorable properties of their toxic metal-containing counterparts with the added benefits of elemental abundance, biological compatibility, and optical properties.

UBI Research: Samsung has almost finalized its QNED development

Market Analysts from UBI Research say that following an analysis of 160 patents filed by Samsung Display related to its quantum dot nanorod LED (QNED) technology, it has come to the conclusion that SDC has has completed the development of the QNED display structure.

UBI says that Samsung still needs to find a way to maintain the number of aligned nanorod LEDs within each pixels, though, so the development is not finished yet.
